Marvin windows provide superior value, quality, innovation, efficiency, and elegance, but how and why do they stand above the rest? We wanted to take some time to focus on Marvin windows and the attributes that make them one of, if not the best replacement windows available. Part I of the Marvin Difference was about Marvin’s Built Around You® philosophy, but in this blog post we will highlight one of the elements that create the Marvin Difference – Marvin window’s cladding.
CLADDING
Aluminum Clad Wood for a Low Maintenance Exterior
All aluminum cladding is not created equal, but Marvin’s aluminum clad wood is top-of-the-line when it comes to cladding materials. The extremely durable extruded aluminum substrate that Marvin uses is significantly stronger than roll-form aluminum. Additionally, Marvin’s clad meets the toughest AAMA 2605 70% PVDF standard for a finish with superior resistance to fading and chalking. Finally, the innovations of Marvin windows creates a window that is practically maintenance-free.
Better Cladding Means Better Finishes, Warranty, and Durability
Marvin products surpass industry standards to create windows with strength, beauty, and durability like no other. Surpassing industry standards starts with exceptional cladding but continues with their finishes, warranty, and durability. With better cladding comes better finishes; a better finish means better warranty; better chemistry means better durability.
Marvin is the only window manufacturer to use high quality extruded aluminum cladding as a standard on their products. Subsequently, Marvin’s standard coating meets and surpasses the AAMA 2605-11 for extruded aluminum, resulting in a significantly superior coating when compared to roll-form aluminum. Innovative and beautiful, Marvin windows and finishes are beautiful from near and far, and will stay that way for many years. With excellent resistance to loss of adhesion, chalking, or fading, the finish on Marvin windows will last at least 20 years. This high-performance coating is practically maintenance-free, and is one of the reasons it’s used for windows on monumental high-rise buildings that are difficult and dangerous to clean and replace.
Better cladding and finishes allow Marvin to be confident in their products. Their strong extruded aluminum cladding and high-performing finishes are protected by a 20-year warranty (excluding some custom colors) against the loss of adhesion, chalking, or fading (according to the AAMA specification 2605-11). According to industry guidelines, sun and weather can take 1/10 of the finish every ten years. Marvin’s 1.4 mm thick finish directly translates to more years of finish, because it is .2 millimeter thicker than anyone else’s.
At the heart of Marvin windows is innovation and the desire to create products and windows that withstand Mother Nature and time. That’s why all Marvin extruded aluminum clad windows feature Fluropon® – an extremely durable fluoropolymar paint finish with 70% PVDF. During manufacturing, a chemical bond is created between the extruded aluminum and the paint finish that resists chalking and fading. Before the finish is applied, Marvin’s aluminum cladding goes through a five-step pre-treatment process that allows the finish to adhere smoothly. Unlike roll-form aluminum, Marvin’s clad extrusions are formed first and then painted, which results in superior adhesion and a consistently thick finish that ensures your Marvin clad products will retain their color, gloss, and beauty for years to come.
